SCP:FS Devlog #03 – Business (& business!)

SCP 106 hand in puddle dragging down humans

Introduction

In our latest week of SCP: Foundation Simulator development, we’ve been tinkering behind the scenes. The UI got a facelift, now offering improved tab navigation and visual hints for a more intuitive experience. No more dull icons – we’ve introduced a custom SCP-Database viewer window, with potential plans to turn it into an editor down the road. But that’s not all! We’ve laid the foundation for worker professions, keeping things flexible for easy additions as well as making a lot of advancements on the company-side of things.

If you want to read up on our previous devlog for SCP: Foundation Simulator “Conducting Research” where we talk about the new UI system, and the grounds for creating more SCPs. You can read that devlog here!

What progress has been made on the SCP Game?

  • Improved feedback when hovering a selectable tab.
  • Added visual feedback to indicate which tab-groups is currently selected.
  • Made it so that menus will automatically have their first tab open when opened.
  • Fixed a bug which would cause the tab-group navigator to not access all available tab-groups.
  • Fixed a bug which would allow the player to navigate tabs when the head menu is closed.
  • Added a custom SCP-Database viewer window so we don’t have to look at boring icons. This could be expanded to be an editor later.
  • Added a base for worker professions. New ones can get added with minimal coding.
  • Support for adding custom actions to work professions.
  • Worker logic should not impact framerate at all.

What have you done this week?

I have been doing some side hustling for the company (joking). I have been working on the financial side of the company and keeping up with SCP universe as I am not that well read up on it as well as doing some research of the SCP game market. 😇 – Leo

I added the worker professions and spicy secret stuff. 😡 – Isak

This week, I’ve finished-up the UI menu-system by adding further feedback when opening and closing menus as well as when the player navigates said menus using the keyboard/ a controller. 🤓 – Max
